And So It Begins...
Geneva took her first steps today. I still have not completely grasped what this means yet, and I'm still in shock over seeing it!
All day she has been practicing standing, more so than any other time. Tom and I had felt she was getting close, and were terribly worried that someone else would get to see it before us. She must have sensed it and decided to calm our fears at last. We were watching TV while she played in the floor, and she pulled herself up on the couch I was sitting on and just started walking across the floor toward Tom while holding a toy. We literally were in shock and it took us both just a second or two to acknowledge that we were seeing what we were seeing. My mouth literally fell open and I started giggling hysterically!
And of course, the camera was out of memory! My mother made a 45 minute drive to bring her camera over and we recorded a small video. Geneva decided later that the whole thing was our imagination and refused to do it again. In her defense it was after 10 p.m. and she was extremely tired.
She will be into every corner and crevice in this house now, and I am not really prepared for that. Looks like I'm going to have to get prepared very quickly. This whole thing called motherhood is happening way faster than I can adapt!
